None of these figures includes the sheep that will die of shock later, or the lambs that will abort from those that have been chased.
Below is a roll call of the sheep killed or injured (graphic)
Who are we working with?
We are very proud to say that we are working with the following organisations, who are offering us guidance and advice.
  • NFU South East
  • National Sheep Association
  • Kennel Club
  • Meon Valley Southdown
  • Butterfly Conservation
If you would like to help us and support us, please email TerenaPlowright@gmail.com
It's not just the injured that suffer
When dogs chase sheep, they are placed under stress (even if it does not bite them), and it can have several effects:
  • they may die later that day or later that week from shock - yes really
  • they may abort their lambs
  • they may be too stressed to conceive
  • some just lie down and won't get up again
Aims
  • To reduce the number of dog attacks on sheep
    • To promote the safety and well being of the UK flock
    • To encourage education about sheep farming to general public

Objective
  • To educate the general public to keep their dogs on leads near sheep and help to protect their National Flock
  • Ask farmers to put signs up to indicate that sheep are in the field to remove the excuse 'I didnt know there were sheep in the field'
  • To work towards a fine if dogs are off leads in a field with sheep - regardless of whether it is chasing them
  • To set up a website to record the true depth of the problem (funding has now been received).
  • To work out the cost to the industry
  • To drive this campaign at community level
It affects the farmers too
People don't realise how badly it affects farmers.  To find any animal suffering is horrific - to find one of your own in pain causes real upset and distress (we apologise if this picture offends - it offended us too which is why we are doing something about it).
